About the Red Barn
The Amherst Red Barn Music School is a collaboration of eighteen music teachers at our studios at 409 Main St (by the Amtrak station) in Amherst. If you have the desire to play music, we can give you the skills, and have fun while we are doing it. We only do fun.

In 2000, the Red Barn started as a bare concrete, walk-in basement in the old Dickinson grain building. With support from the community, I was able to build-in studios and a classroom, a home for music in Amherst.
In the last twenty-some years, thousands of people have come through the Red Barn and found happiness and success. Thank you to everyone — students, teachers, and families — for being part of the Red Barn family.
Our logo by Mary Azarian
Our logo was designed by Vermont woodcut artist and Caldecott medalist Mary Azarian. Her commonsense way of looking at the world speaks to what we are about. Many thanks to Mary for her patience and hard work.
