Payment and Cancellations

The Red Barn Music School teaches 17-week semesters, and lessons may begin anytime. Our calendar follows Amherst Schools, with up to two make-ups for snow days, illness, or absences with 24 hours' notice.

Students are charged for all registered lessons, including absences (with makeups so you get all the lessons you paid for). Up to two make-ups may be offered each semester. Make-ups cannot be carried forward, and missed make-ups are not rescheduled. Lessons are held on days when schools are closed, so please put all lesson dates on your calendar.

After the firs
t lesson, if you decide not to continue, there is no charge. After the first month, students are expected to take all their lessons and finish the semester. Payment is due at registration, by the semester or an installment plan is available. A $20 registration fee helps cover recitals and student materials.

Scholarships and Recitals

Scholarships are available on the honor system—please tell us what you need and we will try to help. Scholarship students are expected to attend all lessons (with make-ups for missed lessons), and to participate in the recital at the end of the semester. If more than two lessons are missed, the scholarship may be reviewed.

Withdrawals, Refunds, and Weather

Withdrawals must be made in writing to the Director. Refunds after the fourth week are generally unavailable except in serious circumstances at the Director's discretion. Cancelled classes or ensembles will be refunded. We follow Amherst Schools closings but please check with your teacher during bad weather or emergencies.
