Catherine Bell is a versatile voice teacher and musician with a deep background in vocal performance, early music, and choral direction. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and also studied with renowned voice teacher Oren Brown at Smith College.
Catherine is active throughout the Five College music community as both a performer and director. At Mount Holyoke College, she directed Voces Feminae, the women’s vocal ensemble of the Five College Early Music Program, exploring music from the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Her work in early music and choral performance has given her a broad understanding of vocal style, interpretation, and healthy technique across many kinds of music.
At the Red Barn, Catherine brings that experience into a warm, supportive teaching studio. She works with students of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels, helping each singer develop confidence, expression, and a healthy, flexible voice.
Catherine teaches a wide range of styles, including Classical, Musical Theater, Show Tunes, Early Music, Folk, Gospel, Blues, and Pop. Whether a student is just beginning, preparing for a performance, or returning to singing after many years, Catherine enjoys helping each person find their own voice and the music they love to sing.
