Carol Hutter teaches violin and viola with a warm, energetic approach that combines serious musical training with a genuine sense of fun. She works with students at every level, from complete beginners to advanced players, and teaches both traditional and Suzuki methods.
Carol’s musical background includes study at the New England Conservatory and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned her Master of Music. She was Principal Viola at the Berkshire Music Festival at Tanglewood, where she received a fellowship and performed as a soloist under Leonard Bernstein.
Her performing career has included the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Symphony, and Arcadia Players. She also co-founded the Community Music School of Springfield and started the Suzuki Program at the Northampton Community Music Center.
What Carol loves most is helping people enjoy making music. She brings enthusiasm to a student’s very first tune and the same excitement to advanced violin and viola repertoire. Every student is different, and for Carol, that keeps teaching fresh, creative, and fun.
