Jim Snedeker began playing saxophone in fourth grade and went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. A Massachusetts K–12 certified music educator, Jim is the retired Director of Instrumental Music at The Bement School in Deerfield.
Jim is also an experienced performer who is comfortable in many styles of music. He has played in jazz bands, pop groups, symphony orchestras, and more than 100 pit orchestras for musicals and operas. He also co-led the flute duo Warm Winds, performing at weddings, receptions, and parties.
Jim begins private lessons with a simple question: “What do you want to be able to do?” From there, he shapes each lesson around the student’s interests, goals, and experience. His students have ranged from age 6 to 66 and beyond, and he especially enjoys helping beginners, returning adult musicians, and younger students who want to make steady progress.
Most of all, Jim believes learning music should be rewarding and fun. He’ll be happy to meet you for a try-out lesson and help you discover what you’d like to accomplish.
