Scott Pemrick is a trombonist, teacher, and longtime member of the Western Massachusetts music community. Known for his cheerful personality and easygoing manner, Scott brings a lot of experience—and a lot of joy—to both teaching and performing.
He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York, and a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston. Scott currently teaches trombone at both Mount Holyoke College and Smith College.
As a performer, Scott has worked throughout New England and the New York area with orchestras, chamber groups, big bands, and brass ensembles. His credits include the Springfield Symphony, Albany Symphony, Boston Civic Symphony, Alea III, Saint Cecilia Orchestra, Berkshire Opera Orchestra, and Pioneer Valley Symphony.
Scott is also a founding member of Paramount Brass, an award-winning Boston-area brass quintet, and Deerfield Brass, which performed throughout Western Massachusetts for more than a decade. He has also played with Soul City, Brass Attack of Springfield, and the Berkshire Big Band.
In addition to teaching and performing, Scott has worked at Gerry’s Music Shop since 2004, where his hands-on knowledge of band and string instruments has made him a trusted resource for musicians, students, and families.
At the Red Barn, Scott brings strong musicianship, patience, humor, and an encouraging spirit to every lesson. He enjoys helping students build solid skills, play with confidence, and have a genuinely good time making music.
