Philip Solominick is an accomplished pianist and dedicated teacher whose career has taken him from Europe and Israel to concert halls and classrooms across the United States.
Philip showed exceptional musical promise from an early age, earning major awards including the Grand Prix at the Art Towards the 21st Century Competition in Ukraine, first prize at the Chopin Competition in Tel Aviv, and recognition at the Pnina Zaltzman Competition. He later studied with Professor Eugenia Tsarov at the Crane School of Music before continuing his education at the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem with Professor Irina Berkovich.
He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he received the Dean’s Award after winning the Haim Kalmi Competition and the Academy’s Concerto Competition. Philip went on to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Michigan, studying with Professor Arthur Greene and serving as a teaching assistant in both piano and music theory.
As a performer, Philip has appeared in major concert settings in the United States and abroad. He made his debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and has performed solo recitals at the Moscow State Conservatory, as well as radio-broadcast recitals from Ein Karem in Jerusalem. He has been a semifinalist in the NYCA Worldwide Debut Audition and a finalist in the American International Piano Competition in Washington, D.C.
Philip has also appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Israel, France, Russia, and the United States. His performances have included collaborations with conductors such as Gerardo Edelstein and Dean Whiteside, as well as works including Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with ensembles in Ann Arbor.
Alongside his performing career, Philip is deeply committed to teaching and chamber music. He has served on the faculty at Point Counterpoint and has been a frequent guest faculty member at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music.
At the Red Barn, Philip brings a rich combination of international performance experience, advanced musical training, and thoughtful instruction to his students. He helps pianists develop strong technique, musical understanding, confidence, and a deeper connection to the music they play.
