Kevin Collins - GUITAR

Kevin started guitar when he was four and began teaching in Amherst in 1969. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford, he also studied Theory/Composition at Queens College in Flushing, New York, studied guitar at the Aspen Music Festival for nine summers, and played up to 325 concerts a year. Kevin teaches acoustic and electric guitar and uses songs to introduce you to music theory. He teaches many styles including pick & fingerstyle, modern & classical, folk, rock, blues, country blues and popular guitar styles. Formerly, Kevin was Guitar Faculty at the University of Massachusetts Performing Arts Division. You can still visit his Guitar at UMass website.

Adam Bosse - GUITAR

A graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta jazz program, Adam has been playing guitar for over ten years. Currently a Master's Candidate at the University of Massachusetts, Adam teaches acoustic and electric guitar styles. Visit Adam's Summer Guitar School at www.summerguitarschool.com

Brian Bender - TROMBONE & KEYBOARDS

Brian plays in Black Rebels (African Reggae), The Wholesale Klezmer Band, Pangeans (World Music) , Fiddle Hill (Celtic), Gumbo Jumbo Dixieland Band and the Brian Bender Jazz Quartet.  Lessons are taught in a fun and relaxed manner.  Brian has a B.A. in Music Performance from New England Conservatory.

Caitlin Freeman - VOICE

Caitlin grew up playing music, all kinds of music. Aside from an extensive music background, she is graduate of The Alexander Technique, she is qualified to coach you on all aspects of singing, speaking and theater voice and movement.

Catherine Bell - VOICE

Catherine holds the MM degree from UMass in Vocal Performance and she sings with the Five College Music Collegium.  She teaches a variety of styles including Classical, Musical Theater, Show Tunes, Early Music, Folk, Gospel, Blues, Pop, etc.

Curtis Smith - PIANO

Curtis is a patient, thoughtful teacher for both piano and keyboards. He receved his Master's in Piano Performance from West Chester University and taught at the Stetson University Community Music School full-time.

Denny Pelletier - DRUMS

Growing up in a jazz household with father and jazz great trumpetier Ray Pelletier, Denny developed strong roots early on. Denny began playing drums at age 5. By age 11 he was performing live at social events, dances, and talent shows. Initial trumpet and drum lessons by his father Ray led to studies with Les Harris Sr., head of percussion instruction at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Mentors include Ray Pelletier, Bobby “Mad Dog” Mansfield, Lovey Ann Bosteels.

Jeff Nissenbaum - DRUMS

Jeff started his musical career as a violin student in 1972, switching to drums in 1983. He brings a beautiful understanding of music coupled with years of teaching and playing experience. Jeff is a careful, patient teacher who will make sure you get good technique while playing music you like.

Hope Charlestream - VOICE & PIANO

Hope received her degree in Voice & Piano from Atlantic College.  She has toured widely and is heard in leading roles in local productions of Commonwealth Opera and Opera Connecticut. Hope teaches both piano and voice according to the individualís needs and modes of learning and will include piano with your voice lesson.

Jim Snedeker - WINDS & BRASS

Jim started the Saxophone when he was six. He holds the MM degree in Music Education from UMass and is Mass. Certified in Music Education, K-12.  He has taught for 20 years in public schools and is fluent in several different styles. Currently, he is Music Director at Bement School in Deerfield.

Kate OConnor - VOICE & PIANO

Kate has been known as a teacher and performer in the Valley since 1980.  She'll help you develop healthy singing and playing habits for a long and happy musical life.  She appears with the band Paris.

Lena Block - JAZZ SAX & PIANO

Lena received the MM from UMass in Jazz Composition. She comes from a musical family and started piano when she was five. Lena has over fifteen years experience teaching children and adults. With a background in psychology, she is a patient and understanding teacher. Lena is a respected jazz musician who appears regularly in NYC and in concert.

Lynn Lovell - DOUBLE BASS

Lynn is Principal Bassist for the Pioneer Valley Symphony and plays with the Gypsy Wranglers.  She teaches acoustic, upright bass and electric, reading and improv.

Margaret Lach - PIANO & GUITAR

Margaret received her Masters in Music Theory from The Hartt School in West Hartford, Conn. and she currently teaches piano at Mt. Holyoke College. She brings patience and focus to her teaching and loves share her deep understanding of what makes music so much fun.

Mark Niemela - VIOLIN & VIOLA

Mark began playing the viola when he was ten.  With an undergraduate degree in music and a Master's in Elementary Education from Adelphi University, he has taught strings for over fifteen years.  An active performer, Mark appears with the Keene Chamber Orchestra.  He has trained in the Suzuki method and in classroom strings.  Mark focuses his teaching on opening up your musical sensitivity and expression.

Philip Helzer - CELLO

Philip received the M.M. from Northern Illinois with studies at the Accademia Musical Chigiana in Siena, Italy.  He Principal Cellist in the Pioneer Valley Symphony.

Sue Kurian - FLUTE

Sue Kurian is a master teacher and performer. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where she received both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Sue is also a certified flute technician and has flutes available to purchase. Her teaching methods aim to stimulate, inspire, and motivate while promoting patience and respect for oneself and the music we love. Visit Sue at kurianflutes.com .

Whitney Tandon - VIOLIN & PIANO

Whitney started violin and piano when she was four and grew up in New York studying at the Manhattan School of Music Prep Division. She a Mass Certified K-12 music teacher and directs the string program at Frontier Regional Middle School. Whitney teaches both piano and violin according to the individual’s needs so you will become a whole musician. She is a patient, enthusiastic teacher and likes to find the FUN in playing and practicing.

Yossi Klement - TRUMPET & FRENCH HORN

Jossi (Joseph) Clement is a graduate of the The Julliard School.  He has served as Principal Trumpet of the Jupiter Symphony at Lincoln Center and the Israel Philharmonic.  He taught trumpet & french horn at the Rubin Conservatory and was a trumpet instructor for the UMass/Amhert Music Department.  Jossi teaches locally at Deerfield Academy.  As a student of Yossi's, you well be exposed to the brilliant world of the trumpet & french horn and he will guide you to your true musical potential.
